{"id":492,"date":"2009-05-06T21:38:21","date_gmt":"2009-05-07T03:38:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.donaldneff.com\/blog\/?p=492"},"modified":"2018-12-16T15:46:36","modified_gmt":"2018-12-16T21:46:36","slug":"carmel-day-trip","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.donaldneff.com\/blog\/carmel-day-trip\/","title":{"rendered":"Carmel Day Trip"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Did a day trip down to <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.carmelcalifornia.com\/\">Carmel<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Big_Sur\">Big Sur<\/a> today.  I do this yearly about a week before the <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.carmelartfestival.org\/\">Carmel Art Festival<\/a> which I will be participating in next week.  Although weather conditions can quickly change,   I like to get a feel for what the weather and surf will be like next week.  I also like to scout out new places to paint,  although I have pretty much covered the entire area many times!<\/p>\n<p>After stopping in the town of Carmel (more about this later),  eating lunch at <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.restauranteur.com\/cafestravaganza\/\">Cafe Stravaganza<\/a>, I headed down the coast and hiked around Point Sobrantes in <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.parks.ca.gov\/?page_id=579\">Garrapata State Park<\/a>, one of my favorite painting places.  I just snapped pictures and found a few possibilities to paint next week.   Below is one shot&#8211;<\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: center\">\n<img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" id=\"image495\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.donaldneff.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/05\/carmel05a.jpg\" alt=\"carmel05a.jpg\"><\/div>\n<p>I heard the iceplant were in good bloom this year, so decided to head to Pacific Grove to paint the colors.
